Rundle lantern animation
Adelaide City Council
The Rundle Lantern is a major Adelaide city attraction, a towering wall of 100% green-powered display screens.
Apart from its carbon-neutral light show, it also plays motion content. As a result, it requires a regular traffic of new animated clips that illuminate the Mall’s intersection with Pulteney Street by night. The clips can be cued by bystanders and pedestrians through hashtag requests.
It’s a regular source of creative problem solving for us to generate content for everything from Australia Day, to the Arts, to local events and attractions, even Lyme Disease! The animations themselves need to function at a very low resolution because of the translation of pixels to screens within the installation. But that’s just another challenge we love!
To date, we’ve produced over sixty clips.
